Blue Planet Plastics Recycling Ltd, located in Vancouver, is Canada’s market leader in the reclamation of post-industrial plastics. We buy plastic bags, plastic bottles, industrial injection mold scrap and virtually every other kind of plastic and convert it all into clean, reclaimed resin for industrial reuse.
Some plastic recyclers focus sales efforts on foreign markets. China, in particular, buys huge amounts of reclaimed plastics every year. The problem with this approach is that only a fraction of the total mixed plastic we send to China from North America is recoverable. The portions not used are not regulated and may end up in burn piles, rivers and oceans or non-regulated dump sites.
At Blue Planet Plastics Recycling, we are committed to providing North American markets with reclaimed material to produce plastic films, pipe, sheet extrusion and injection molding materials, and our market base encourages repeated recycling of their plastic products.
Canada produces four million tons of plastic every year. Of that four million tons, 1.4 million tons are used to create plastic packaging. Plastic is incredibly durable,
which is great for its use as packaging, but it doesn’t biodegrade. Plastic containers that end up in landfills or bodies of water are essentially there forever. They may be broken into smaller pieces over time, but they never decompose the way paper products do. Plastic bags, especially, are a huge concern. It is estimated that somewhere between 500 billion to one trillion plastic bags are produced globally each year.
The average Canadian uses 110 kilograms of plastic each year. According to Statistics Canada, we generate more than 1,031 kilograms of waste per person but divert only 254 kilograms to some sort of recycling facility. Plastic recycling increased by 40% between the two most recent Statistics Canada reports, and Blue Planet Plastics Recycling is dedicated to the belief that zero plastic waste should end up in a landfill or in our beautiful water features.

We accept HDPE containers and films as well as vinyl plastics and polystyrene products. We pick up from industrial settings where waste plastics create liabilities, and we also serve local governments with new or established plastic recycling programs. Our recycling process removes contaminants and grinds, pelletizes or pulverizes post-industrial plastics to create resin materials suitable for reuse by plastic bottle manufacturers, roll film manufacturers, injection mold use, or plastic sheet or extrusion processes. We provide the same outstanding on-time delivery service for our resin buyers as we do for our suppliers. The Canadian plastics industry generates $26.3 billion dollars per year and employs 91,530 workers in 3,200 different companies. It is a vital sector of the economy that supplies an essential product. Blue Planet Plastics Recycling works hard to make it a more efficient, zero-waste sector that will continue to provide excellent products in a responsible and sustainable manner. |
